Built in 2018 with a vision to offer guests a unique New Zealand experience. We want guests staying here to know that they are in New Zealand and to experience what New Zealanders love so much about their home land - e.g. laid back, peaceful, space, gorgeous views, luxury, shared spaces & private spaces. Rabbit Island Huts now attracts tourists from all over the world and guests from 1 km away who are just looking for that special get away.

Come and enjy a special experience in a special place, an environment that is peaceful and relaxing, enjoy the silence & bird song. A break from your busy life.
The Huts have been built with sustainability in mind. All timber was sourced and milled locally. Only eco paints and stains have been used. We recycle & compost all waste. Herb garden for your use in our shared kitchen space.
Enjoy the native plantings as we restore our natural wetland that ambles through the property.
Rabbit Island Huts is situated at the front of the property – come in the driveway then turn right into Rabbit Island Huts car park, look at the blackboard before you go over the bridge for which Hut you are staying in.

Rabbit Island Huts (little spaces of luxury)
All Huts are separate and private from each other, two have private areas and three of the Huts have a TV, please request a TV or private space if required and we will try and accommodate you.
2 x Huts with ensuites, all with Queen beds, fridge & tea & coffee making facilities
1 x Hut with ensuite and its own private bathroom
3 x Huts that share two external luxury bathrooms. All with Queen beds, fridge & tea and coffee making facilities
Just beside your bathrooms are the outdoor bath and shower.
Sauna open between 4pm and 10pm daily

Wow!! We had been recommended a stay in one of these boutique huts by a friend and they didn't disappoint. While each hut is quite small, they are very comfy with an incredible bed, Netflix, lovely eco-friendly toiletries. We were happy to just bunk down in ours for a few days. The property is also amazing, with a communal, rustic kitchen area, free coffee and tea and an outdoor fire pit as well as a novelty outdoor bathtub.”
